Maintaining your summer glow throughout the winter is goals. Before we knew it, it got dark before 8 p.m. and our shearling coats started edging their way out of our wardrobes. That golden goddess look we’ve spent the last few months developing wants to stay and we want to show you how.
We’ve reached out to five of our Pros to get the lowdown on how to keep your skin on point throughout the coming months.
Get ahead with a facial
Brighton Beauty Collective
As it gets colder and darker, we get less vitamin D and the air sucks the moisture out of our skin. Then, when we get home and crank up the heat, our skin cracks and flakes. And with mandatory mask-wearing becoming the norm, increasing the dryness and maskne (acne caused by your mask), our faces are definitely in need of some extra love this winter.
“With a facial, you can give your face an intense clean and start to bring your skin back to life. I recommend a deep cleanse facial. This is where I use moisturising oils and lots of massaging to release dirt and tension. I believe that’s the cure to the majority of skin issues, and I guarantee everyone leaves with a glowing face.”
A deep cleanse facial is a classic choice, involving the rejuvenating benefits of steam, a facial massage, facial mask, serum, and moisturiser. The perfect choice if your skin lacks moisture or is prone to outbreaks.
Serum is your friend!

Throughout lockdown, many of us have stripped back and accentuated our natural look with brows and lashes. Prioritising your skincare regime will keep you confident on those days you feel like bare-facing it.
“Adding a skin serum to your routine is essential to maintaining maximum glow throughout winter as it keeps your face smooth and moisturised. My skinspiration is my mum. I used to have bad acne growing up, but now I’m forever getting complimented on my skin. Makeup is amazing and I love it so much, but you should always look after the canvas before you begin to paint.
Hyaluronic acid locks moisture into the skin, meaning it leaves the skin looking plump and hydrated. I recommend The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid + B5 serum. It’s vegan and inexpensive, making it a great introduction into the world of serums without breaking the bank. Try applying it on clean, damp skin prior to moisturising to ensure it locks all the goodness in.”

Everyone’s skin is different. While it can take time for a routine to work for you, try some options until you find your perfect product collection that you can rely on. For beauty addicts looking to splurge, we LOVE the C E Ferulic Serum from the Skinceuticals range, and the BIOeffect EGF Serum is amazing if you’re looking for younger skin. It will leave you looking like a baby. You can thank us later.
Put some goodness back into your skin
A steam is fantastic for healthy skin and gives you ten minutes to yourself. Why not try to include a steam once a week to compliment your regular skin routine this winter?
“I am obsessed with steaming my face. We’re constantly covering our pores with products and makeup, making our skin work extra hard, especially when the weather is harsh outside. By steaming your face regularly with essential oils, you give yourself time to get all the nasty stuff thoroughly washed away and it’s super relaxing too.
“Try an African black soap to give you that squeaky clean feeling without leaving a tacky residue behind. It’s a quick way to flawless skin without breaking the bank. It’s made of plant-based ingredients, including shea butter, which helps lock in moisture naturally, without giving you that greasy frying pan look.”
To do your own steam at home, simply pour kettle-boiled water into a bowl – try adding essential oils if you have some – take a seat, drape a towel over the back of your head as you put your face over the bowl, and hold it there about 6 inches above the water. You don’t want to be too close to the water as there is a risk of burning yourself. Trust your body on what feels comfortable for you. Simply relax and enjoy for 5-10 minutes. Why not fill the time with some meditation or listening to your favourite podcast?
Find a routine that works for you and stick to it!
Just Bee Lashed
“I see so many women, friends, family, and colleagues who struggle with their skin care. Whether you’re having trouble because the seasons have changed or you battle all year round, I would say the first step is to stick to one routine. If you’re flip-flopping between products, diets, and sleep patterns, your skin is going to suffer for it. It’ll take at least 3-4 weeks to reap the rewards of your pattern, so your first step is just to stop changing your routine and find something that works for you.”
The Glow Club
“For most of us, thanks to lockdown, we’ve had to get creative to keep our tan game strong. Whether you prefer your glow from a bottle or a bulb, undoubtedly a tan makes us feel like we’ve had a major glow up. Timed well around the rain, staying on top of your tan can give you a boost and keep your look popping – whatever the weather.”
