From Steam to Serum: How to Hold on to Your Summer Glow

Maintaining your summer glow throughout the winter is goals. Before we knew it, it got dark before 8 p.m. and our shearling coats started edging their way out of our wardrobes. That golden goddess look we’ve spent the last few months developing wants to stay and we want to show you how. 

We’ve reached out to five of our Pros to get the lowdown on how to keep your skin on point throughout the coming months.


Get ahead with a facial

Put some goodness back into your skin

A steam is fantastic for healthy skin and gives you ten minutes to yourself. Why not try to include a steam once a week to compliment your regular skin routine this winter?

“I am obsessed with steaming my face. We’re constantly covering our pores with products and makeup, making our skin work extra hard, especially when the weather is harsh outside. By steaming your face regularly with essential oils, you give yourself time to get all the nasty stuff thoroughly washed away and it’s super relaxing too.

“Try an African black soap to give you that squeaky clean feeling without leaving a tacky residue behind. It’s a quick way to flawless skin without breaking the bank. It’s made of plant-based ingredients, including shea butter, which helps lock in moisture naturally, without giving you that greasy frying pan look.”

To do your own steam at home, simply pour kettle-boiled water into a bowl – try adding essential oils if you have some – take a seat, drape a towel over the back of your head as you put your face over the bowl, and hold it there about 6 inches above the water. You don’t want to be too close to the water as there is a risk of burning yourself. Trust your body on what feels comfortable for you. Simply relax and enjoy for 5-10 minutes.
