Simran Randhawa is a woman making waves. From Estee Lauder to Kurt Geiger, this British Asian model is working with the industries biggest names – and she isn’t shy to voice her opinion on matters she thinks are important, too. Being from India and Malaysia, Simran frequently discusses the importance of her South East Asian identity, often through writing in publications such as gal-dem. Simran spoke to us about her beauty routine and wellbeing – and how she stays relaxed and keeps her skin flawless, even with her busy schedule.

On Hair

My hair is pretty low maintenance, especially now it’s not bleached anymore. I’m currently trying to grow it out, so I go for regular trims at Hersheons. I love getting blow drys there too, as I’m sometimes lazy with washing my hair haha! I usually get my haircut by Harry, and he’s FAB – I love a loose-wave blow dry. On a day-to-day basis, I’m pretty chill and I wear my hair slicked either in a bun, or straight.

On Facials

I love love love Skin & Sanctuary in East London. I’ve had the most effective facial of my life done there, and I’ve been dying to go back. I’m an aspirational facial lover – I love getting them done and what they do to my face, but I’m pretty bad at remembering to go regularly. I have too many other beauty treatments to keep on top of… I’m also super curious to try microneedling by SKNDOCTOR (Dr Ewoma). Also FACEGYM!! LIFE CHANGING! I already have prominent cheekbones, but after a face gym session oh my god, I get snatched.

On Brows

I’M HERE FOR BIG BROW ENERGY. I think, being Indian, the importance of brows was drilled into me since I was a foetus. I love a done and tinted brow, as it just makes my face look so much more ‘done’. Also, I swear fresh brows make your skin look clearer? I need the science behind that STAT. I love BamBrows on Broadway Market. Chanice is actually the one who put me onto tinting my brows. At first, I thought it was pointless to tiny my brows as they’re already pretty full, but it’s so life-changing. When I’m in Central London and I need my brows done I like to also go to Suman Brows in Hersheons (again) as it’s convenient. Basically: just try the tint!

On Lashes

I don’t get my lashes done, but I love the idea of having lash extensions. For now, I use this castor oil from a natural brand called Suneetas Cosmetics that comes in the handiest tube with a little spoolie.

On Nails

White toes, always. For hands, I’m a fan of Apres over acrylics, I find them less damaging – they’re kinda like press ons glued to your nails. For this treatment, I like going to Colour Riot Nails in Shoreditch. But I kinda think I’m over my extensions vibe and I’ll be transitioning to nail art next.

On Hair Removal

Laser hair removal was probably the best investment I’ve ever made. I’m super prone to scarring and ingrown hairs, and laser has totally gotten rid of them, to the point that I don’t even think about hair removal anymore. I go to a place called CoLaz that pretty much does my whole body, but for my Brazillian, I go to Sugaring London once a month. Less painful than waxing and a good middle ground whilst I work up the courage for Brazillian laser!

On beauty

Sometimes I get my makeup done for events, but usually I just do it myself. I tend to go for a simple look. I have an everyday look that I know suits me: winged liner, focus on skin, heavy blush and a nude lip.

On Tattoos

I loveeee tattoos! My go-to spot is Femme Fatale in Broadway Market. For piercings, the best place I’ve found is Cold Steel in Camden.

On Wellness

My numerologist is probably one of the wisest women I’ve ever met and illuminates so much synchronicity I didn’t even realise it occurred in my life. She also put me onto a Deepak Chopra meditation course, which lowkey changed my life. I have a therapist, and I think self-awareness, reflection and healing is super important. I’ve only become aware of the weight of my traumas, and their impact on me as I’ve gotten older, and wanting to be the best, healthiest version of myself is super important to me. I’ve recently implemented regular meditation and yoga into my life, and it’s been transformational. Yoga, aside from bodily awareness, is a means for me to really stretch out my body, which I need as someone who works out regularly. I’ve found meditation has helped me to quiet my scattered mind, and pay attention to thought patterns. Meditation and yoga are two wellness practices that are super thrown around right now, but I think if you find a way to make them both work for you, the benefits are immeasurable.
